Baking Classes in Bhubaneswar: A Beginner’s Guide

Want to bake a real cake, but not sure where to start? If you've been searching for baking classes in Bhubaneswar, this guide is for you. It covers the beginner-friendly baking and dessert workshops you can book with GoWeekends, what each one involves, and what you take home.

No oven at home? No experience? No problem. Every workshop below is hands-on, and everything is set up for you.

Why book a baking class now?

The cooler months are a lovely time to bake. Diwali sweets give way to winter tea-time and, soon after, Christmas cakes. A short class now means you can bake with confidence for the rest of the season.

  • Learn by doing: you weigh, mix, pipe and decorate yourself
  • Take it home: every workshop ends with something you made
  • Just 2 hours: an easy weekend plan, solo or with friends
  • A ready-made gift: a cake, cookies or a cupcake bouquet you can share

How GoWeekends baking workshops work

All our baking and dessert workshops run at Woks & Bows in Neeladri Vihar, Chandrasekharpur. Each session lasts 2 hours, groups are 1–15 people, and all ingredients and tools are provided.

Each format runs on select weekends. Some show a session you can book; others show Dates TBA. On those, tap Notify me and we'll email you when the next date is announced.

Bake N Take: Fruit and Nut Tea Cake

Bake N Take: Fruit and Nut Tea Cake Making Workshop is the best pick if you want to bake a whole cake from scratch. It's fully hands-on: you weigh your own ingredients, mix the batter, fold in dried fruits and crunchy nuts, and bake it until it's soft and golden.

  • Price: ₹599 per person (listed down from ₹999)
  • You take home: your own freshly baked 300 gm tea cake, packed to carry
  • Included: all ingredients, including the dried fruits and nuts, plus all baking equipment and tools
  • Bring: a comfortable outfit for a hands-on baking activity
  • When: runs on select weekends. Check the latest dates on the tea cake workshop page.

Nut allergy? Tell the instructor beforehand. The listing asks guests to mention any food allergies, especially to nuts.

Bake N Take: Cake Decoration

More into frosting than flour? In Bake N Take: The Cake Decoration Workshop you start with a pre-baked cake base and learn piping, frosting, layering and decorating with colours, sprinkles and edible toppers.

  • Price: ₹599 per person (listed down from ₹999)
  • Included: the cake base, frosting and icing, piping bags and tools, edible decorations and a cake box
  • Bring: nothing, just yourself and your creativity
  • You take home: your own custom-decorated cake

Bake N Take: Cookies and Jar Cakes

Two easy formats for first-timers. Find both on the workshops page:

  • Cookie Making Workshop: prepare cookie dough, shape, bake and decorate your own batch, then take the cookies home. ₹599 (listed down from ₹899). Wear closed-toe footwear.
  • Jar Cake Making Workshop: watch a live demo of how a soft sponge is made, then layer sponge, cream and toppings into 2 jar cakes to take home. ₹599 (listed down from ₹899). An apron is optional.

Beyond cakes: tiramisu, pizza and cupcake bouquets

Want to try something different? These dessert and baking workshops run at the same venue:

  • The Art of Tiramisu: bake your own ladyfinger biscuits, whip mascarpone cream, layer and dust with cocoa. You get a recipe sheet and take your tiramisu home. ₹599 (listed down from ₹799).
  • Create the Crust: knead the dough, choose your sauce and toppings, and bake your own pizza to enjoy. ₹599. Good for families; children must be with an adult.
  • Bloom & Frost: pipe buttercream flowers onto pre-baked cupcakes and arrange them into a bouquet to take home. ₹599. A sweet gift idea.

Tips for your first baking class

  • Tie back long hair and wear clothes you don't mind getting a little floury.
  • Mention allergies early. Tell the team about any food allergies or dietary needs when you book.
  • Follow the instructor near the oven. Don't touch hot trays or tins without help.
  • Take notes. A phone or notebook helps you bake it again at home.
  • Bring a carry bag. It makes getting your bake home in one piece easier.

Booking tips

  • Book early. Groups are small, so weekend seats go quickly.
  • Use Notify me. If a workshop shows Dates TBA, you'll get an email when dates open.
  • Know the cancellation rules. More than 72 hours before the start, you get 90% back to your bank or 100% as GoCash. Tickets are transferable with prior notice.
  • Questions? Email support@goweekends.in. We're available 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM, all days.
